Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 October 2026

The short version. Desk Goblin has no account, no cloud and no analytics. Your schedule, routine and daily count live in your Mac’s own preferences and are never sent anywhere. The app talks to the internet once, to check your licence. This website sets no cookies and runs no trackers.

Who this covers

This policy covers the Desk Goblin macOS application and this website. Desk Goblin is made by a small independent developer, and the fastest way to reach a human is hello@planseven.app.

What the app stores, and where

Everything Desk Goblin remembers is stored locally on your Mac, in the standard macOS preferences for the app, plus your licence key in the system Keychain. None of it is transmitted to us.

Deleting the app and its preferences removes all of it. We hold no copy, because we never received one.

How the app knows whether you are working

To decide whether to escalate a reminder, Desk Goblin needs to know one thing: whether you are still using your Mac. It asks macOS how many seconds have passed since your last keyboard or pointer input, and receives a single number.

It does not install an event tap, does not request Accessibility or Input Monitoring permission, and therefore has no mechanism by which it could observe which keys you press or where you click. Nothing about your input is stored, logged or transmitted. The number is compared against a threshold and discarded.

Microphone and calls

Desk Goblin can stay quiet while you are on a call. To do that it reads a single piece of device state from macOS: whether an audio input device is currently running. That is the same signal behind the orange dot in your menu bar.

The app requests no microphone permission, never asks for one, and does not appear in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone. It never opens an audio stream. No audio is recorded, buffered, retained, analysed or transcribed, and it has no way of knowing who you are talking to or what was said.

Network connections

The app is designed to work with the network switched off. It connects to the internet only for:

There is no analytics SDK, no telemetry, no crash reporting service, no advertising identifier and no unique device identifier of any kind.

Payments

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. Your payment details are entered on their hosted checkout and are never seen by, or transmitted to, Desk Goblin. They process your email address and purchase record in order to send your receipt and licence key, under their own privacy policy. We can see your order and email address in order to provide support and issue refunds.

This website

This site is a set of static files. It includes no tag manager, no advertising pixels, no embedded third-party fonts and no social widgets. Our host records standard server logs, such as IP address and requested URL, for security and to keep the site running.

To understand how visitors use the site, we use Microsoft Clarity, which records clicks, scrolling and mouse movement and produces heatmaps and session replays. Clarity sets cookies to recognise a returning visit and processes this data on Microsoft’s behalf under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. It is used on this website only, never inside the app. Buy buttons are plain links to Lemon Squeezy’s checkout page.

Your rights

Because we do not build a profile of you, there is very little for us to hand over or delete. The one record we hold is your purchase, through our payment provider. If you want a copy of it, or want it deleted, email hello@planseven.app and we will act on it. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA; the same address is how you exercise them.

Children

Desk Goblin is a productivity utility for adults at work. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top of this page changes and the previous version is replaced. The app will never begin collecting something new without this page saying so first.
